NOT GUILTY ON MURDER CHARGES

A Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge has acquitted Evan’s and his co-counsel Gregg Slemmer’s client on three charges, including two counts of murder. The primary issue in the case was self-defense (of a residence), and Evan and Gregg successfully argued over a two day bench trial this week that Ohio’s “Stand Your Ground” law prevented the Court from finding their client guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Their client faced a sentence of life in prison with a minimum of 18 years before the possibility of parole.

The Judge also acquitted their client on the charge of tampering with evidence, which, due to a specification in the indictment, carried a one year mandatory prison sentence.
